Morning Routine
*School starts at 8:50am*
Breakfast Club is available for children every morning between 8am and 8:30am. The cost is £1 a day. Doors close at 8:30am.
Main school door opens at 8:40am and parents are asked to bring the children to the classroom door. There is a snack trolley outside our classroom door where the drinks can be placed in the drinks boxes and the snacks placed in front of the box . Lunch bags may be placed on the second and bottom shelves of the trolley. The children will be met at the door by myself, every morning.
Children are encouraged to come into class and put away their belongings independently and then sit in the classroom where there will be a member of staff on duty.

Weekly Information
Monday/Dydd Llun
*Spelling test in school
Thursday/ Dydd Iau
*Spelling will be sent home.
*Forest school — wellies required (not to be worn to school) and PE kit worn to school.
(A change of clothes will be required during wet weather– labelled in a bag).
*PE – School uniform to be worn to school and a PE kit brought to school in a bag (shorts, t-shirt and trainers)
Reading
Please ensure your child has their reading book every. We aim to listen to the children as often as possible but have no designated days.
The children do take part in other reading activities as part of the Read, Write, Inc. scheme, which is delivered 3 days a week.
Reading is very important can I thereford ask you to listen to your child read for at least 10 minutes per day. It isn’t much but it will benefit your child immensely.
Homework
Spelling will be sent home on Thursday and brought back to school the following Monday. The test results will be given to you on the following week’s spelling sheet. Please could you make every effort to help your child learn these for their test.
Forest School
We provide the children with waterproofs but would appreciate it if the children could bring in their own wellingtons and a spare pair of socks, trousers and t-shirt. During the winter months, please give your child a hat, scarf and a pair of gloves to keep them warm.
Snacks – Please can pupils bring in a snack for break time. As part of the children’s well-being we promote healthy eating at Ysgol Golwg y Cwm and therefore, we would appreciate your support to ensure that your child has a healthy snack in school everyday. – Fruit, Cheese or Yoghurt.

Autumn Term 2023
Year 1 looking after the environment by taking part in a litter pick in the playground. After this they sorted the litter into different materials and created a bar graph on JIT Chart. Gwaith ardderchog Dosbarth 1.

Dosbarth 1 visited St Fagans National Museum of Wales . They took part in Toys workshop. They thoroughly enjoyed learning about and playing with the Victorian toys.
